Warwick-based musical dynamo annA rydeR’s exuberant humour and joyful presentation is matched only by her outstanding musicianship. An inventive singer-songwriter whose style is basically folk but spans a range of musical genres, she brings with her a spectrum of instruments from keyboards to trumpet, guitar to accordion and she sometimes plays them more than one at a time.
Anna has played with many leading artists including Fairport Convention, Eddi Reader and Julianne Regan (All about Eve). She has toured as a member of IOTA (Sally Barker & Marion Fleetwood) and The Sandy Denny Project. She is currently a member of the wonderfully quirky and super-talented all-female trio Elks Jumping High.
The idea behind ‘Up Close & Acoustic’ is to create an interactive and light-hearted experience of home-grown music by revealing more of what inspires and motivates the musician. The format is proving popular for audience and performers alike, and the intimate and convivial atmosphere generated by Bill Bates’s relaxed and sometimes cheeky questioning creates a memorable and entertaining evening of melodies, stories and surprises! We’re making the most of Bill’s interviewing talents – this will be his last Up Close & Acoustic appearance before he moves to a different part of the country.
The show begins 7.30pm and for this special occasion, admission is free – just show up and take a seat, but please be ready to contribute generously towards the caddy collection during the interval. The event is expected to run until approximately 10pm.
