Leave a Legacy

Why leave a legacy to The Albany Theatre?

The Albany Theatre is a registered charity (charity number 1151595) which aims to promote wellbeing through Arts for Life. We run a number of bespoke and open projects which encourage strong, involved communities, reduce the impact of extreme poverty and support the most vulnerable people in the city. We are as inclusive and accessible as possible and will never exclude anyone whatever their income, access needs, social or religious background.

With your support we can continue to grow this programme and reach more people in more parts of the city. Although we receive some funding from Coventry City Council and small amounts of project funding for specific work we still have to raise a large proportion of our income each year.

By leaving a legacy to The Albany Theatre you will help to ensure future generations enjoy taking part in the arts.

What you need to know

It’s never fun to think about death but sorting out your will with a solicitor can help those you leave behind to be clear about your wishes and make their grieving process earlier. It also means than you, not the government get to decide what happens to your assets.

If you die without making a will (dying intestate) it can cause great uncertainty and take a long time to resolve. If you make a will you can avoid a lot of distress for your loved ones and knowing your exact wishes will be carried out will give them some comfort in a difficult time. It’s also worth reviewing your will every time you have a major life event such as marriage, having a child or grandchild or moving abroad.

Leaving a charitable donation in your will can help reduce your Inheritance Tax liability as charitable legacies are deducted from your estate before the calculation of tax.

There are three types of charitable donations that you can leave to a charity, speak to a solicitor about which would be most appropriate for you.

Please contact [email protected] if you would like to know more about Legacy Giving.

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone that has supported us to date and everyone who is considering doing so in the future.
