Up Close and Acoustic with The Harvesters

An evening of music, chat, stories and surprises presented by CVFolk

One of the longest standing acts on the Warwickshire folk scene, and now touring extensively as a duo, The Harvesters are next to face the ‘Up Close & Acoustic’ treatment that’s proving a popular and entertaining celebration of leading local folk acts.

Over recent years, they have built up a reputation as leading exponents in traditional American music. Founder members, husband-and-wife duo Ian and Sue Hartland, both superb multi-instrumentalists, singers and specialists in Appalachian step-dancing, teamed up with slide guitar, dobro and banjo wizard, Bob Powell to produce the authentic back-porch sound that had every foot tapping and every voice singing in joyful harmony wherever they appeared.

While Sue has recently taken retirement from performing, Ian and Bob have kept the Harvesters’ name on the guest lists of clubs and festivals and have recently gone down a storm introducing the lively sounds and rhythms of mountain music, blues, gospel and old-time, good-time Americana to that most discerning tour circuit of Women’s Institutes!

With a history that goes back to the mid-1960s , The Harvesters have entertained nobility, royalty, and the residents of The Falkland Islands. Theirs is a fascinating story, laced with top notch musicianship.

The idea behind ‘Up Close & Acoustic’ is to create an insightful and interactive experience of music by revealing more of what inspires and motivates the musicians. The format is proving popular for audience and performers alike, and the intimate and convivial atmosphere generated by Bill Bates’s relaxed and sometimes cheeky questioning creates a memorable and entertaining evening of music, stories and surprises!

The show begins 7.30pm and tickets are £14.50 or £10.50 concessions (including students and over-60s). The event is expected to run until approximately 10pm.
