Contemporary Ballet Workshop | Sat 20 Nov 2021

Contemporary ballet workshops for 13 – 16 & 17 – 21 year olds. Free & booking essential. (Links below)

Open to anyone of any ability and experience, including complete beginners, led by Birmingham Royal Ballet dancer Tom Rogers.

Dance is one of humanity’s oldest forms of communication and has been used throughout history as a tool to form identity and a sense of belonging. Through this workshop participants will explore the emotions of movement and how movement and body language is inspired by the people and places around us.

Tom Rogers has 15 years experience dancing with a world leading touring ballet company. He joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2004 and has been a soloist dancer since 2012. His engagement and participation work includes working with Youth at Risk on the 2 year project Ballet Hoo! Ballet Changed My Life, televised on Channel 4, and Ballet, Birmingham and Me – a production of Cinderella, performed by 59 young people from Birmingham.

An accompanying event to The Bird and the Elephant by Emma Critchley: a series of outdoor screenings in Coventry city centre of an artist’s film exploring the legacy of Coventry Sports and Leisure Centre, 11th-13th and 26th-27th November 2021.
