MAKE OR BREAK Produced by Open Theatre
It’s all in the balance when a slapstick duo take on their biggest challenge yet: a day job.
After globe-trotting gigs and joke-dropping hijinks on international stages, infamous duo Juke and Lake have crash-landed back to earth — straight into the chaos of a 9-to-5 at a toy factory.
With their dreams on hold and bills piling up, the duo are knee-deep in screws, hammers and a never-ending conveyor belt of problems. But with the radio blasting and their slapstick instincts kicking in, they might just survive the shift — in one piece.
ABOUT JUKE & LAKE
Juke and Lake are two punk clowns on a mission to share their unique creativity and challenge neurotypical comedy.
In 2018, Jake Jarvis and Luke Greenwood formed the comedy duo after meeting during Open Theatre’s The Twisted Tale of Hansel and Gretel, where they discovered a shared spark for physical performance. After hours of collaboration, they created their first 15-minute scratch show, Juke & Lake in: A Box of Tricks. Since then, they’ve performed original sketches at regional festivals including China Plate’s First Bite and Coventry’s Shoot Festival.
Jake Jarvis
Jake is an actor, director and practitioner, and one half of Juke & Lake. With experience in both theatre and film, he’s performed in national tours, regional productions and five immersive shows at Birmingham Rep. Known for his humour and fearless approach, Jake thrives on physical performance.
Luke Greenwood
Luke is a skilled physical performer and founding member of Spectra, a performance company that blends professional and learning-disabled artists to create multi-sensory work. He trained at Queen Alexandra College and Litchfield College. For Luke, creativity isn’t about thinking outside the box — it’s knowing the box was never there.
