This is the first of a new series of events by CV Folk, offering a glimpse into the ‘inside story’ of leading acts on the local folk circuit. We’re lucky to have several world class folk musicians living in the region and we’ll be inviting some of these to appear ‘up close and acoustic’ and share a performance of music and chat in the intimate environment of the Albany Theatre’s Courtyard Studio. The show is informal and there’ll be opportunities for the audience to ask questions, raise topics for discussion, or make requests!
To start the ball rolling, Coventry’s acclaimed singer-songwriter, Rob Halligan joins us on Friday June 27th. His is a fascinating story from troubled teens to the emergence of an inspiriting musician. With his distinctive contemporary folk-rock style, he explores loss, faith, and redemption through moving lyrics, foot-stomping tunes, and a performance that connects deeply with audiences.
Rob has worked with leading folk and rock musicians in the UK and USA and his band, Homeward Hie has proved a powerful outlet for his material over the last five years. With a truly global and human perspective, Rob’s own involvement in charity work for children has put him in direct contact with the fight against Third World poverty.
Rob will be introduced by singer and podcaster Bill Bates, who will be asking and fielding the questions.
The show begins at 7.30pm and tickets are £14.50 or £10.50 concessions (including students and pensioners). The event is expected to run until approximately 10pm.
