About this new festive production
This Christmas, see a new festive production at The Albany Theatre, Coventry — a spellbinding stage adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, inspired by the original 18th-century fairy tale by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. Adapted by Theresa Heskins for the New Vic Theatre to rave reviews, The Guardian praised it as “a sumptuous reboot of the festive-season fairytale… Heskins keeps us gripped. On the way out, I hear someone say she’d like to watch it again. I’d happily join her.”
Bigger and better than ever before, this dazzling alternative to the traditional Christmas show is packed with magic, excitement, and just the right amount of festive sparkle — brought to life with unforgettable characters, unexpected twists, and timeless themes of courage, compassion, and the transformative power of love.
The story of Beauty and the Beast
When the Warrior Queen defeats the mischievous Goblin Queen, the Goblin Queen curses her son to be trapped in the guise of a beast until he can get someone to love him. Years later, a young girl called Bella — played by Hannah Victoria, fresh off the UK tour of Six — arrives at the Beast’s castle. Believing herself about to be eaten, she certainly doesn’t expect to fall in love…
With bold storytelling, breathtaking visuals, music, and dance, Beauty and the Beast is the ultimate Christmas adventure for dreamers of all ages — whether you’re six or ninety-six.
