The Trial of Lord Lucan

Saturday 11th April 2026

The disappearance of Lord Lucan in November 1974 following the murder of Sandra Rivett at the home of his estranged wife, Veronica, 7th Countess of Lucan, has led to half a century of theory, rumour and unanswered questions. Did Lucan kill Sandra, the children’s nanny, or was he innocent? Did he intend to murder Veronica instead? What happened to him following his disappearance? And is he still alive?

In 2017 crime historian Adam Wood was approached to publish Lady Lucan’s memoir. In the resulting book, ‘A Moment In Time’,Veronica told her story in her own words; a frank and honest description of her life with ‘Lucky’ Lucan, her battles with depression and, of course, the events of 7th November 1974.

Join Adam to hear the full story of Lord and Lady Lucan in this illustrated talk which uses images from Veronica’s private photograph albums, which she supplied for the memoir – and decide for yourself what happened on that fateful night, and beyond.
