Sustainability

As The Albany Theatre continues to expand in both our programming and physical building, the trust has recognised the need to develop and implement an environmental policy. The theatre is committed to becoming a more sustainable and environmentally friendly venue and minimising the effect that the day to day running’s of the theatre have on the environment.

Aims

  1. To reduce the amount of single use plastics used in our kiosk and bar
  2. Implement a clear and easy to follow recycling programme throughout the office, FOH, bar and backstage areas – for customers, volunteers, and staff to follow
  3. Reduce our use of paper
  4. Commit to an annual review and overhaul of utilities in the new and existing building
  5. Showcase work and projects that explore the issues of climate change and the environment
  6. Commit to engaging positively with Staff, Volunteers and Customers about their impact on the environment

3 Year Ambition

The current capital development of the Albany gives an immediate opportunity to improve the environmental credentials of the building and its operation. Our highest priority will be to make a positive contribution to the environment and achieve the highest affordable standards of sustainability.

12 Month Priorities

The design team for the new build is creating a modern environment that reduces our carbon footprint and contributes to the essential Net Zero target. We aim to act responsibly, making a positive contribution to the environment, achieving the highest affordable standards of sustainability.
