SRISHTI – Nina Rajarani Dance Creations presents Pathways

A full-length performance featuring four Bharatanatyam dances performed by a new generation of British-South Asian dancers who will showcase this Indian classical dance style from southern India, characterised by strong lines, geometry, symmetry, as well as highly expressive mime. Bharatanatyam is probably the most popular and versatile classical Indian dance style performed in the UK and worldwide.

Through exquisite movements, powerful rhythm and striking ensemble work, dancers will present three works choreographed by award-winning choreographer and Srishti’s Artistic Director Nina Rajarani MBE, and one by inimitable guest choreographer Mavin Khoo. Versatile music composer and Karnatik vocalist Y Yadavan has created the music score for this evening of dance.

SRISHTI is a leading South Asian arts organisation based in London creating work that combines Indian classical dance forms of Bharatanatyam and Kathak, alongside Karnatik vocals and live music. SRISHTI believes in maintaining the authenticity of Indian classical dance and music whilst presenting these forms in innovative ways and within contemporary contexts in the UK and internationally.

SRISHTI Pathways is funded by Arts Council England and supported by Harrow Arts Centre, Harrow Council and Creative Academy, Slough.
