‘Bad Eggs’ by Dani Robin performed by Guernsey ADOC (A One Act play)
During WWII, Jerseyman Hugo Breton and family strive to live as normally as possible under the German occupation of their home island. Hugo is determined to keep calm and carry on despite numerous restrictions placed on the community – until one night he discovers someone is stealing vegetables from his shed.
He decides to retaliate but a late-night visit from the Gestapo forces him to face the question of what is more important: defiance or his family’s safety?
‘The Gift’ by Janice Okoh (Act 2) performed by Criterion Theatre (A One Act play)
A middle class Black British couple, Sarah and James, recently moved to a Cheshire village with their adopted daughter are visited by new neighbours Harriet and Ben. A hilarious but excruciating encounter ensues, ripping the mask off white privilege when it tries to present an enlightened face and exposing the pain of those affected by it.
‘Lifeboat’ (abridged) by Nicola McCartney performed by Spiral Curtain (A One Act play)
“Lifeboat” is based on the true story of two girls, Bess Walder & Beth Cummings, who were among 90 evacuees on board the SS City of Benares, when It was torpedoed & sunk by a German U-boat on 17th September 1940. An extraordinary story of courage & survival.

The cream of British amateur theatre is coming to the Albany Theatre this July.
The winners of local amateur Festivals throughout the British Isles have been competing all year for the right to be selected for the annual National Drama Festival.
The Festival is run by the National Drama Festivals Association (NDFA) and comprises seven evenings of adult one-act, youth one-act and adult full-length plays, all of which have been selected to compete based on merit.

The whole Festival will be adjudicated by the Guild of Drama Adjudicators (GoDA), specifically esteemed Adjudicator, Jan Palmer-Sayer, who will assess each play after it has been performed, and announce the full results on the Saturday evening.
